Apple just dropped their new iPhone 15 on Friday, September 22nd this year. While this phone had a lot of people excited to trade in their new phones, it seems like there have been more problems with this iPhone than all the others in recent years. A few notes about the new iPhone: there is no change in the screen display size, they are water and dust resistant and the Dynamic Island that used to be offered on the iPhone 14 has returned, the phone is made of titanium frame, and is also equipped with a A16 Bionic chip. The A16 Bionic chip allows the phone to run faster than generations like the iPhone 12 and older. According the Apple, the A16 chip runs 40% faster than the chip inside of the iPhone 12, which is an A14 Bionic chip.
One other notable feature about this iPhone is the switch to a USB-C port. Apple has started transitioning to the USB-C ports in their iPads, computers and now their iPhones. While this is nice for Apple users to charge all their devices on one charger it is due to a regulation being enforced where universal charging ports are required.
While this new iPhone is extremely exciting and comes with a variety of new features and colors, it seems that there is a lot of recoil around issues that have started to arise. When the phone was first released, people were having issues with the phone overheating easily and getting so hot that it couldn’t be held. Apple came out with a statement saying that this was because of a software bug and app issues. At the time Apple was on IOS 17 and they released a statement saying they were working to correct the operating system on IOS 17, as well as working with their developers to make changes so the apps weren’t overloading the phones systems causing the phone to overheat.
Shar, a college student said, “ ”
She went back to Apple to get a new phone and she was told it was defective and was given a new one. So far she hasn’t had any issues. It seems though like Apple has been met with a lot of difficulties with the new iPhone and complaints have been skyrocketing.
Another issue that customers were met with was when transferring data from an old phone to their new iPhone 15 they were met with a blank screen with the white Apple logo that wouldn’t change; however, Apple resolved this by releasing an IOS update day of launch, and now customers should be able to see an option to upgrade to the new IOS update.
A lot of the issues seem to be rooted in the new IOS 17 update including the overheating and the data transfer and another issue of the phone turning itself off. The iPhone 15 has reportedly for many customers has either shut off randomly through the day or turns itself off at night. This can be seen by seeing hours gaps in battery data.
It raises the question: is getting the iPhone 15 is really worth it? Or, is it better to wait until these issues are resolved? With these many issues and the possibility of having to go back to get a different phone because the one received has issues can be troublesome for those who heavily rely on their phones for work or just in general. If you don’t want to run the risk of getting a faulty iPhone it may be best to wait for Apple to address all the issues arising with the new iPhone 15 before purchasing.
