Tim Walz, who was the Vice Presidential nominee in the 2024 election, will return to serve as Governor of Minnesota. Walz ran alongside Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, who was surprisingly at the top of the ticket this past week. Despite Kamala Harris never having received a single vote before the presidential election, Democratic party leaders panicked over Biden’s incompetency and hand picked Harris to take over the campaign. Democrats instantly became desperate to distance themselves from Joe Biden after noticing he led one of the worst presidencies of all time. This decision was largely driven by the realization that Biden’s decline left Democrats with little chance of defeating Donald Trump. To support this move, funds were quickly transferred into Harris’s campaign, but the strategy did not quite work as expected. The 2024 election became a landslide victory for Donald Trump, who won every swing state and received 312 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris secured only 226. The Democratic Party, now weaker than ever, faces a significant crisis and will need substantial restructuring if it hopes to recover before the 2028 election. Harris, who never garnered widespread respect within her own party, was decisively outmatched, as evidenced by Trump’s victory margin of over 3 million more votes. While Harris’s political career seems to be over, Tim Walz returns to Minnesota. Although it is unfortunate that Minnesotans are stuck with Tim Walz, he faces re-election in just 2 years and will find it much more challenging to push through his radical left-wing policies with the Trump Administration in office.
With Republicans now holding both the Senate and the House, they are poised to effectively dismantle the Democrats’ trifecta, which will restore a sense of political balance in the country. In Minnesota, Governor Tim Walz faces an uncertain future as the state’s political dynamics shift under the influence of President Donald Trump’s Policies. Walz will likely find himself in a tough battle to maintain the support of his constituents, especially with a state House that could be split or possibly under a slim Republican majority, making it even more difficult for him to govern effectively. As far as Walz’s future, it is rare that a governor in Minnesota wins a third term, which casts further doubt on not only his national political career, but his career in Minnesota. As he moves forward, Walz will also have to defend his record, potentially on two major failures: his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. In two years, it will become clearer whether Tim Walz can navigate these challenges or if his political career will come to an abrupt end.
