Anyone who likes country, whether they want to or not, knows the name, Morgan Wallen. He started his career with a successful showing on the 2014 season of The Voice. Though he lost in the semi-finals, the show gave him nationwide exposure and introduced him to vocal coach Sergio Sanchez, from the band Atom Smash. Together they formed a short-lived band in Nashville called Morgan Wallen & Them Shadows. After that, he signed with Big Loud Records and ranked in the Top Ten with his album “If I Know Me”, in April of 2018. Leading off the album was the song “Up Down”, made in collaboration with the popular band Florida Georgia Line, the song eventually earned a gold record. Then in 2021, with the release of his “Dangerous: The Double Album”, he rapidly became one of the biggest stars in the contemporary country music field. This album spent over 10 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart and received the best-selling album award in 2021.

Born in Tennessee on May 13th, 1993, Morgan Wallen got his love for music at a young age when he would sing at Church. His church performances started when he was 3 years old, as his father was a preacher. He played the violin, piano, and guitar, but also had a passion for baseball. He pitched for his high school team and even got college offers, but due to an elbow injury, his pitching career came to a halt.

His solo career really took off in 2019 with his single “This Bar” and also in 2020 with “More Than My Hometown”, both of which reached number one on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. His album, “Dangerous: The Double Album”, released in January 2021, also reached the top of the Billboard album charts and received the highest number of first-week streams for a country album, a record that still stands to this day. Less than a month after the album’s release, all his songs were removed from country radio, he was dropped from his record label, and he was deemed ineligible to obtain the awards his music received from the Academy of Country Music. This decision was made after TMZ released a video of the artist using racially offensive language while with a group of friends. Gradually radio stations started to pick his music back up within the same year. In 2021 and then 2022 Wallen released the gospel waltz “Don’t Think Jesus” and then “Thought You Should Know”, both of which reached the top of the Hot Country Songs chart.

He’s had a very successful ongoing career, as demonstrated by the numerous awards he’s both been nominated for and received.
